Common Issues

Common Blockpit Issues

In more than half of TX-Partner's cases there is no labelling question behind it but a data gap.

01_UNLABELED

Unlabeled Transactions • unassigned entries in Blockpit

Entries Blockpit could not assign to any transaction float "in the air". They need to be linked with their counterpart into a transfer or classified correctly.

02_MISSING_HISTORY

Missing History • Fix Blockpit missing history

When the purchase history is missing, Blockpit sets the cost basis to €0, turning the entire proceeds into a fictitious gain. TX-Partner reconstructs the missing data.

03_BALANCE_MISMATCH

Balance Mismatch • Fix Blockpit balance mismatch

Synced balance (on-chain) ≠ calculated balance? Almost always a bridge side or an API import without history is missing. TX-Partner completes the records until both match.

04_WRONG_CLASSIFICATION

Incorrect Classification

Blockpit often fails to recognize DeFi and bridge entries and imports them as plain inflow or outflow with the comment "Fallback". TX-Partner checks the transaction in the block explorer.

05_MISSING_VALUE

Missing Value

Blockpit finds no market price for an asset at the time of the entry. Without a EUR value the calculation stays incomplete. TX-Partner adds historical prices.

06_CHRONOLOGY

Inconsistent Chronology

Sale before purchase, or transfers between your own wallets not recognised as internal: the timeline is off, and with it the cost basis.

Causes

Why Blockpit errors break your tax report

Blockpit calculates correctly, but only with what it has. What is missing, it cannot know. What it does not recognise, it classifies wrongly or not at all.

Incomplete history

Exchange APIs deliver only from the connection date and not every transaction type. Bought in 2021, API connected in 2024: the old trades are missing.

Wrong classification

Complex DeFi transactions (lending, staking, LP tokens) get imported technically but often labelled incorrectly. Blockpit then treats an unlabeled outgoing entry as a sale and an unlabeled incoming entry as cost basis zero.

Missing counterpart

A transfer is only recognised when outflow and inflow are both in the data. With bridges, aggregators and chains that have to be imported one by one, one side is often missing.

The gap travels along

A deposit does not create a cost basis, it inherits it from the withdrawal before. The chain therefore has to be traced backwards to the first uncovered inflow.

What TX-Partner makes of it

The cause is fixed, not the hint.

01

Reconstructed, not patched

TX-Partner reconstructs what really happened on-chain. Balancing everything out in one lump entry does not make the assignment correct, only invisible.

02

Fixed price after the analysis

TX-Partner looks at the data first, then you know the costs, before you place the order. No hourly rate, one fixed price for the quote.

03

Ready to file

One data set for three recipients: tax report, proof of funds, DAC8 reconciliation.

Common Questions

Before the first call

Blockpit hints are automated warnings in the tool when data is missing or inconsistent: negative balances, imbalanced balance, unlabeled transactions, missing cost basis. They show where the tax report goes wrong, but don't fix the problem — for that you need clean source data.
Blockpit is a great tool, but only as good as the data going in. TX-Partner reviews your data setup, classifies complex transactions (bridges, NFTs, DeFi) and fills gaps via on-chain forensics. More in the blog article Crypto Accounting Partner.
For simple cases, yes: standard trades and swaps can often be labeled directly in the tool. It gets hard with imbalanced balances, bridges, NFTs, or missing history before setup. Here the tool needs the data, you need to provide it. Exactly where TX-Partner steps in: Resolve balance discrepancies shows the practical workflow.
30 minutes free. Robert or Johannes personally reviews your Blockpit hints: what's there, what's missing, what can be fixed, what would it cost. If TX-Partner is not the right fit for your case, we will say so in the call.
Common case: Blockpit only used since 2022, trades from 2017-2021 missing. TX-Partner reconstructs via on-chain forensics, archived exchange CSVs and bridge logs. Details: Reconstruct crypto records.
